On my third week of stay I decided to walk downtown Toronto and learned by myself that the city is welcoming, even during winter. This week I have been to Casa Loma, the CN tower, the Kensington Market and the Distillery District and have welcomed spectacular views of the city landscape, while leisurely walking all around downtown Toronto.

The city is home to some interesting places, such as varied restaurants and stores, some parks, libraries, and the Casa Loma castle. All those places which you may be interested in having a look at, and maybe learn their relationship with the city’s history. Around Downtown Toronto there are not only tall buildings and shops, but also old neighborhoods with old-looking houses with a relaxing environment which you will enjoy walking by.

The zoo was great and contained a great variety of wildlife and information, although it may be a better idea visiting it in summer.

All the downtown in general is both generally walkable and very well connected through metro, bus and streetcar systems which make it easy to go around, so to get going, all you need to walk downtown Toronto during winter is appropriate winter clothing, probably a presto card that can easily be purchased in the stations, and a hot chocolate to go by the gloomy yet appealing gray winter skies.
