A White New Experience

Although not new to winter and snow, this was a brand new experience for me. Years ago I had been to snowy mountains in Chile and enjoyed the thrill of winter sports, however to this travel to Canada there was a new condition to the amazement, be it the dimension.

For someone who had only seen snow on the peak of a mountain seing such vast swaths of land covered in snow was quite a novelty. It was interesting seeing people go about with their lives despite the change of panorama that winter poses, even so that winter was only starting! Although slippery, the sidewalks made for wonderful views of the ornamented trees and bushes, courtesy from the ice crystals and snow.

The whole city looked different, and so must travelers dress as temperatures and thermal sensation start to become an obstacle. As much sunny as the day may appear, one must be prepared for sudden temperature drops, specially towards the end of the day, and towards January and February, if one even ponders about having a walk outside.

This, I hope doesn’t become a deterrent for people potentially looking forward traveling to Canada, as winter offers a completely new insight on the country and life in Canada, and makes for beautiful views of the nature and city landscape. The only advice is coming prepared, and maybe enjoying a good hot chocolate to feel cozy during the cold days.
