As part of my exploration of Toronto downtown I have seen myself in the need of reliable economic transportation, and have found myself frequenting the TTC Metro system, specifically lines 1 and 2, faring from north to south and west to east respectively.

I am staying in Mississauga, a suburban city to the west of Toronto, so I routinely take the MiWay and the TTC metro to get to Toronto downtown. As a first advice, I'd recommend travelers staying in the Greater Toronto Area, the metropolitan area comprehending Toronto city and its surrounding municipalities to purchase a Presto card, because it easily unifies payment among all the regional municipalities and costs only $6 CAD. Another advice could be getting a hand on a metro map, although google maps does the trick.

The metro cars are clean and arrive pretty regularly, and rarely have delays, so the system is consistent. Having something to read may be advisable if you are going far, which wouldn't be a stressful trip anyways since you don't have to worry about either being stuck in traffic, nor finding parking lots or driving in general.

Overall transport is good, and I'd also recommend using the bikeshare, at least when there is no ice on the bike lanes. I would definitely love it if people were able to see the perks of such a system, and delighted by its functioning. If people transitioned from car dependency to public transport, it would make a better world.
